Antonio DiLoreto, Santa Barbara Artist

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

While visiting Santa Barbara this past Christmas I was invited to Antonio DiLoreto’s studio. It was awesome. There were boards hanging from the ceiling, canvases placed about and his glass and paper work all around. The smell was a mix of surf wax and drying paint.

Antonio is more than a painter and glass blower. He is a collector of cool things and is currently into bees. Paint more Tony, your work is great! Thanks for letting me come over. Take care, ~ JD

The Christmas Setting

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

My mother-in-law is an excellent interior designer. Everything in her home is so well put together that I feel like I’m lounging around in a catalog shoot. This is standard stuff around here. That’s her decorating the tree.

Surf Check

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

The stormy weather brings exciting conditions from the sea. Around here the ocean is in charge and it always speaks in a clear voice. The first one is a check from earlier in the day. The second one is last night’s sunset.

The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Ceren Graduate Session

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

Ceren came all the way from Germany for this graduate session. Ok, maybe she’s an exchange student and happens to be in the same area I work from…But she’s still from Germany… The beach was the perfect setting for this newly inducted California girl. By the way, the waves were going off during the shoot. Not that I was watching the waves or anything…I mean, I’m workin’ ya know.

But it could not have worked out better. The clouds and the water did their thing perfectly while we breezed through this session. The light got better by the minute and my trusty assistants Cammy and Lizzy were a great help. Oh, and it’s pronounced “jer-in” and you should hear her play the harp. Go Ceren! and Viva Deutschland!

The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Ladies and gentlemen the time has come. Erik Mato has delivered proof that he has asked Dana to marry him. This is a momentous occasion. One that deserves a wonderful smile and a big hug for both.

Dana you are so awesome, a perfect mate for a guy such as Erik. Congratulations to both of you and I can’t wait for the wedding. Big love, ~ JD
