The fog parted as Jayne & Adrian moved closer together. finally their paths met at the alter and the sun shone brightly. It was a great big intimate wedding at a beautiful location. Ragged Point in Big Sur was the spot and Jayne & Adrian were the stars of the day.

The day was full of little surprises with a big impact. Things like the mother of the bride composing and singing a song for her daughter, the groom singing his vows to his bride. The speeches were hilarious and the cake fight, well, took the cake. It was tons o’fun and an honor to be a part of it for me.

We were so excited for this session it seemed like it would never get here but it finally did. We had a blast. I’ll be shooting their wedding next week and I can’t wait for that either. These are just a few of my favorites. I’m not sure if my favorite moment was stopping traffic on Burton Drive, talking about Kung Fu movies or watching Adrian balance Jayne on his shoulders? Thank you Adrian and Jayne for being such amazingness. You make it easy. I love photography. I love my job. The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Eli and Goretti were hitched last week in Sonoma County. I had the honor of recording the special day and this is a sampling of the many images I shot that day. What a great time. These two are so in love and it was wonderful to be in the presence of the whole thing. The ceremony was held at Goat Rock in Bodega Bay,the reception was at the Saint Rose cafe in Sebastopol. You loyal followers might remember the portraits I did for the Hamlin Family late last year. This family is a joy to be around. Laughter is just part of their culture it seems. I have the best job in the world. Thanks you guys.

I was the second shooter for Cecily Parish a few weeks at Allison and Brian’s wedding here in Cambria. It felt like everyone was family. That’s just how it is when you live in a place where the pines meet the sea. Go get’em newlyweds! Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

You might notice the last few images that were taken at Moonstone Beach. The smoke light was going off. Smoke light is the orange filter you get during brush fires. The Big Sur Basin Complex Fire started that day. It was interesting light. These are just a few of my picks. The Central Coast is full of surprises.

The setting was perfect and the crowd was great. Cheryl and Whit gave me the blessing of capturing a few moments for them. The weather was great and even William from Alaska was there. The Central Coast is full of surprises.

Thanks to Marlena and Paul for the outstanding wedding in Big Sur. The guests stayed in the yurts at Treebones Resort , which is the only way to stay in Big Sur. The ceremony was held inside yurt 13! The storm was threatening but it only added to the power and splendor that Big Sur is known for. It was tons of fun and the intimate gathering added to the friendly vibe. Amanda West provided the music. She is an outstanding musician and is well known in the Santa Cruz area. I was able to get a few impromptu portraits of her during dinner. It was a fabulous afternoon in Cambria and the McCall Farm was buzzing. What an honor to be part of such an amazing event. The bag pipe player was riveting. Maggie’s father Jack made the most heart-felt speech I’ve heard in a long time. It was a great mix of a surf story and a prayer. The catering was provided by Robin’s (amazing!) The music was provided by Escape Entertainment, a class act for sure. Check Maggie and Jordan’s engagement session. Thanks guys. You are amazing…~ JD

We had another stellar weekend for weddings last weekend. Rain was threatening early in the morning but it cleared and revealed a beautiful and crisp day. The ceremony was held at Leffingwell Point in Cambria. There was a whale show right after the ceremony. California Gray Whales were breaching right off the point. The reception was held at Las Cambritas in the East Village of Cambria.The surprise gift of the reception was when Diane gave Tim a traditional hula dance for her new husband. It was beautiful and smooth. Like she had been doing it her whole life. Time was overwhelmed. It was quite a moment. It was a great time and I felt honored to be there.
